Jouzour Foundation Simon Boulos (Jouzour FSB) is a charitable organisation registered under number 1462314 of the Lebanese commercial register, license 135/AD. It was founded in 2006 to contribute to the humanitarian relief effort in Northern Lebanon following the July war that caused mass displacement of people into communities ill-equipped to support them appropriately. Since then, the Foundation has pursued its mission of support for the immediate and longer-term needs of underprivileged communities in Northern Lebanon. We offer assistance to struggling families and individuals, without discrimination of religious and political beliefs, while giving priority to Lebanese families.
The Foundation works in close collaboration with the communities we serve. Our boots on the ground approach gives us intimate knowledge of the specific challenges faced by families allowing us to work alongside them with empathy and compassion, and to honour and respect their dignity.
Jouzour provides aid to needy families in Northern Lebanon along three pillars: access to healthcare and medicines, access to food and essential hygiene products, and access to education.
We focus on access to health for life or death situations such as surgeries, cancer treatments and critical illness. In doing so, we actively partner with local hospitals. For high cost surgeries, we mobilise our network of caring individuals so that we are able to reduce the burden on each participating donor to a reasonable amount in respect of any one surgery. Where possible, we seek to support chronically ill patients with the medicines they need over the long term.
With the help of local and foreign donors, we have succeeded in building a small inventory of home care equipment including hospital beds, wheelchairs, walkers, water mattresses, specialised toilet equipment and oxygen concentrators. They are lent for free to needy families and returned to us for redeployment when they are no longer needed. These items are difficult to source, and much in demand and we continue to welcome gifts of such equipment.
